Hookah

I know most of the people who will ever read this blog will know where im coming from when i say i get pissed about the misconception of hookah. Hookah or the turkish Nargile is a smoking device that originated in the middle east around 1600 AD. It is a single pipe smoking device. It is a very basic device, there is a bowl on top where you put the tobacco, from the bowl there is a stem that is the main part of the hookah, the stem goes down into the base about 6 or 7 inches. The base will be filled with water, about enough water to cover the bottom of the stem about 2-3 inches. then just above the base there is a hose port that is attached to the stem. You insert a hose here and this is where you smoke from. So once you pack the bowl with your tobacco and get your coals on top, when you draw from the hookah, it creates pressure inside the base and air/smoke comes down the stem and into the water to release the pressure. The air/water then rises out of the water and goes into the hose and into your lungs. Its an easy contraption. Now the type of tobacco you use is called shisha. It is basically tobacco and molasses, or tobacco, flavorings, and glycerin. The way you generate smoke is not like a cigar where you would lite the tobacco on fire. You use a metal screen or tin foil with holes in it and you put special made hookah coals on the top of the bowl. This makes it so it doesn't burn the shisha it just heats it up and causes it to smoke. There are many flavors of shisha and it is one of the most relaxing and social activities.
